Minister Lamamra receives UN SG's Special Representative for Libya, head of UNSMIL

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, received, Tuesday in Algiers, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Mr. Abdoulaye Bathily, who is paying a two-day working visit to Algeria.

During this meeting, the two parties discussed the developments of the situation in Libya and the efforts made to ensure the necessary conditions for the organization of the next elections, being the only way to enshrine the will of the Libyan people to choose their leaders and unify their national institutions.

Mr. Lamamra reaffirmed, on this occasion, the support of Algeria to the efforts of the UN in this direction and its readiness to put its expertise at the disposal of the Libyan brothers especially with regard to the achievement of national reconciliation and the organization of elections.

Mr. Bathily, for his part, welcomed the positive contribution of Algeria to the process of political settlement in Libya and its continued solidarity with this brotherly and neighboring country, emphasizing the special interest he attaches to coordination with neighboring countries to accelerate the process of peaceful settlement of the crisis.
